Pro-life vs pro-choice essay
Pro-life and pro-choice is an unending controversial debate. Actually, these terms are related to the abortion rights of women. The people who support abortion are called pro-choice and people who do not support abortion are called pro-life.
Pro-choice thinks that motherhood is the choice of women. In a country like India crime against women is rapidly increasing legal abortion becomes a necessity of society in case of rapes, unmarried mothers, teen pregnancy, and accidental pregnancy.
Motherhood is the best experience a woman has in her life. No woman wants to kill her own baby. Mothers are emotionally attached to the baby even if it is unborn. But in some grievous cases like rape, unmarried mother, teen pregnancy, and accidental pregnancies women have to take this dark step of undergoing abortions.
If a woman thinks that she cannot give a better life to her baby then a woman has the right to end it before it starts. It will avoid further chaos in the life of a baby.
Motherhood should be the choice of women not the slavery of circumstances. Hence pro-choice strongly advocate that abortion should be legal.
Pro-life thinks that abortions are like murder. In a country like India where gender discrimination is still present in society especially in rural areas abortion of a female fetus, i.e female foeticide is common practice in India.
The government of India has banned detecting the sex of a fetus before it is born. But to stop the killing of female fetuses in the womb abortion must be made illegal. Besides that pro-life thinks that if abortion is made legal it will give rise to an even more increase in cases of rapes, teen pregnancy. At least pregnancy creates fear in the mind of both women and men before having unnecessary sex.
Pro-life supporters also argue that abortion creates a psychological and physical impact on women’s health. Hence pro-life strongly advocate that abortion must be made illegal.
In a Multi-religious country like India abortion is considered a great sin. Almost all religion in the world opposes abortion. India is the land of gods in the Hindu religion consider abortion with disapproval. Not only in India but in western countries like the USA and UK orthodox Christians consider abortion as a sin.
We personally think that no doubt abortion is like murder because it involves the removal of a fetus from the womb of a woman to end a pregnancy. But we should create a society where the need for abortion does not arises.
If the need for abortion does not arise then the question of whether abortion is right or wrong has no meaning. For that, we should give sex education to girls and boys at a proper age.
We should not discriminate between girls and boys. We should treat girls and boys with equality. Liquor and porn which trigger unnecessary sex should be banned. Girls and boys should be given proper knowledge about the use of contraceptives. In cases like rapes, females should be given the freedom to decide whether they want abortion or not.
Doctors should give full information about side effects and any other health-related issues to mothers before the abortion. Religion considers that abortion is not right but remember that“ Man is religion. religion is not man” we should make abortion legal and gave freedom to mother when and how she wants to become a mother so that we can avoid further catastrophe in her life and her babies life.
