The full form of M.B.B.S is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. But according to the sequence of letters, it should be BMBS then why do we say MBBS? The answer to this question is that the Short form MBBS is taken from the Latin terms “Medicinae Baccalaureus Baccalaureus Chirurgiae ” which means Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in English.

MBBS is the combination of two different medical courses 1) Bachelor of Medicine 2) Bachelor of Surgery

These two courses are integrated and taught in the 5-year M.B.B.S program. MBBS is an undergraduate medical course with a course length of 5.5 years including a 1 year internship period. The curriculum of MBBS is divided into 9-Semester

Eligibility for M.B.B.S?

Any student who passed his 10+2 with 50% in the case of the General Category and 40% in the case of the SC/ST Category with physics, Chemistry, and Biology as a subject can apply for the M.B.B.S course in addition to this student must have a scorecard of NEET Entrance exam. Based on their performance in NEET students are allotted various colleges across the country based on merit and the rules of the government.

You cannot do MBBS without NEET even if you want to do MBBS from abroad without a NEET clearance certificate you cannot practice in India.

The Age limit for doing MBBS is a minimum17 of years and a maximum of 25 years for Unreserved category students. For reserved category students, the Maximum limit age is 30 years.

What is the Fee Structure of MBBS colleges in India?

Both Government and Private colleges are available to do MBBS in India. The fees of Government and private colleges vary to a great extent. In the case of Government medical colleges, the AIIMS has the lowest fee 1628 per annum. Fees in other government medical colleges are is70000 to 80000 per annum. The fees in private colleges vary from 9 lacks to 12 lacks per annum.
